Article title plays a major role in getting user attention and real traffic. Most of the people search using Google or Yahoo or Bing and then they get a list of posts and the first thing get noticed is your article title. So while having good and quality content is very important, having an eye catching title that draws viewer attention and traffic is crucial for Internet marketing success. Here I am providing some of the tips to help you creating good article title that work.
1. Title with Search Keywords
If you will put search keywords in article title, it will get more value from search engines. Suppose, you are writing a post about “Android apps of 2011″. If you are using Google Adwords, you will find that most of the people search for “Best Android Apps for 2011″, so instead of having your title as “Top Android Apps of 2011″, its better to keep it as “Best Android Apps for 2011″. In this case, your article title is full of keywords that are getting most searched and hence the chance of higher rank and more traffic.
2.Eye Catching Article Title
Going back to the last example, lets consider these two titles – “10 Best Android Apps for 2011 you should have” and “Best Android Apps for 2011″. Clearly first one is more eye catchy and chances of a user clicking on it is more than the later one. So don’t hesitate to experiment and put titles that draw attention and force viewer to click and see the actual content.
3. Third Party Tools for Keyword Research
Most of the times, I use Google Adwords Keyword Tool to find out the best possible title for my article. You can use other tools also like Google Insight and Google Suggest. Even Google Search suggestions can provide you some ideas for the articles and its title.

4. Using Long Tail Keywords in Title
If you search for Android, the top results will be one of the top websites and you won’t be able to compete with them because they have an authority in the area and they are very old too. So try to target long trailed keywords. For example if the top 10 results for “Best Android Apps 2011″ are from big websites then I will try to target “Best Free Android Apps 2011″. In this case, competition will be less and I will be able to get high rank and traffic. Use Google Adwords tool to analyze competition and then target keywords accordingly.
5. Avoid Special Characters
Never use special characters in the title because there are so many browsers that don’t support them. There might be some users viewing your article from Mobile device and the special character looks weird on them. So it;’s of no use and should be avoided all times.
6. Title Suggestion Tools
In some of the article directory websites, for example EzineArticles, comes with title suggestion tool where you need to provide few words and it will search in their database and provide you some titles to write. You can either write for article directory or use the idea to post article on your blog.
